Jose Mourinho singles out Luke Shaw after Man United loss to Tottenham

Jose Mourinho singled out Luke Shaw for special praise despite Manchester United’s 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Monday night.
The 23-year-old England defender played the full 90 minutes at Old Trafford but was unable to prevent his team from slipping to a disappointing loss to the Lilywhites in front of their home fans.
Shaw struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Old Trafford last season under Mourinho but he has clearly won over the Portuguese coach after having started all three of Manchester United’s Premier League games this term.
And Mourinho was clearly very pleased by Shaw’s display on Monday night despite the Red Devils’ disappointing defeat by the north London side.
Speaking at his post-match news conference at Old Trafford, Mourinho said: “I was particularly pleased with him [Shaw].
“I told him he could not play better than he did. I saw him at 3-0 having cramp and keeping in the game until the last second with that pride, with that dignity that the fans applaud.
“Of course, the kid has to be upset with the result, but the kid has to know that he has had three very good matches in the Premier League and today he was very, very good. I am very, very happy with him.”
Manchester United will look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they travel to Burnley in the top flight on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils, who finished second and without a trophy last term, have only managed to take three points from their opening six Premier League games so far this season.
Manchester United have not won the Premier League since back in 2013.
