Danny Murphy tells Jose Mourinho to back Victor Lindelof at Man United this season

Danny Murphy has told Jose Mourinho to back Victor Lindelof at Manchester United this season.
The Portuguese coach brought the Swedish defender to Old Trafford last summer as he looked to bolster his options at the back ahead of his second season in charge.
However, Lindelof failed to hold down a regular spot in the first team last season as the Red Devils ended up in second place in the Premier League table and without a trophy.
Lindelof has started both of Manchester United’s Premier League games so far this season but was unable to prevent the Red Devils from slipping to a 3-2 loss to Brighton on Saturday.
And former Liverpool FC star Murphy feels that Mourinho must take responsibility for the form of one of the players he brought into the club last year.
Speaking in an interview with bwin, Murphy said: “If a manager signs a player, they need to give the player an opportunity to pay them back, but Mourinho hasn’t even given Lindelof a chance.
“The board potentially didn’t want to back Mourinho with more money to spend on a central defender this summer because they’ve seen what he’s done with Lindelof.”
Manchester United will aim to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Monday night when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are looking to try and win the Premier League title this season as they have not lifted the top flight trophy since 2013 under Sir Alex Ferguson.
