Jose Mourinho sends transfer warning to Man United chief Ed Woodward
Jose Mourinho admits that Man United need to bolster their squad before Thursday's deadline
Jose Mourinho has warned Ed Woodward that Manchester United need to further strengthen their squad before Thursday’s transfer deadline or face a “difficult” season.
The Red Devils have been linked with a whole host of players this summer but Mourinho’s side have so far only made three signings ahead of the Portuguese coach’s third campaign in charge.
Manchester United have signed Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant so far as they prepare to try and challenge Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table next season.
Mourinho is clearly keen to further bolster his Manchester United squad before the transfer window closes at 17:00 on Thursday, and the Red Devils boss has now openly sent a plea to Woodward about new signings.
Speaking to MUTV, Mourinho said: “My CEO knows what I want and I still have a few days to wait and see what happens.
“The other clubs who compete with us are really strong and already have fantastic teams. Or they are investing massively like Liverpool, who are buying everything and everybody.
“If we don’t make our team better it will be a difficult season for us.”
Mourinho has been tasked with steering Manchester United to the Premier League title next season after they finished second and without a trophy last term.
The Red Devils have not won the Premier League title since their famous final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013.
Manchester United had won both the Europa League and League Cup in Mourinho’s first campaign, but they were beaten by Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final back in May.
