Paul Pogba challenged to guide Man United to the title
Garth Crooks challenges Paul Pogba to be the main man for Manchester United this season
Garth Crooks has challenged Paul Pogba to be the main man to help Manchester United end their wait for the Premier League title.
The 25-year-old France international’s future at Old Trafford has been a constant source of uncertainty this summer after his lack of playing time under Jose Mourinho last season.
Pogba was widely criticised for failing to produce consistent performances for Manchester United last season as the Red Devils ended up in second place and without a trophy last term.
However, the midfielder was one of France’s standout performers as he helped his national side to win the World Cup in Russia this summer.
Pogba captained Manchester United as the Red Devils claimed a 2-1 win over Leicester City in their Premier League opener on Friday night.
And Crooks now feels that it is time for the midfielder to step his game up and prove himself capable of firing the Red Devils towards major trophies.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Sport, Crooks said: “What the Frenchman delivered in Russia was magnificent.
“The question is, can he deliver the Premier League title for Mourinho at United? Only that will grant him legendary status at Old Trafford.”
Pogba will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils take on Brighton and Hove Albion in the top flight next weekend.
The Red Devils have not won the Premier League title since back in 2013.
