Man United respond to Zinedine Zidane speculation – report
Man United deny interest in bringing Zinedine Zidane in as a possible replacement for Jose Mourinho, say reports
Manchester United have denied any interest in bringing in Zinedine Zidane as a potential replacement for Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, according to reports in the British media.
BBC Sport is reporting that the Red Devils are not thinking about replacing Mourinho as things stand.
Jose Mourinho’s situation at Old Trafford has become a source of speculation in recent months after the Red Devils ended up without a trophy and in second place in the Premier League last term.
Mourinho has found himself under the spotlight once again in the wake of Manchester United’s 3-2 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Sunday.
There have been suggestions that Zidane could be one of the candidates to take over from Mourinho should the Portuguese coach leave his post at Old Trafford.
However, the same report claims that the Red Devils have no interest in bringing in Zidane as the club’s new manager.
The story quotes a Manchester United source as saying: “Why would we discuss Zidane when there is no job?”
Manchester United will aim to bounce back from their defeat by Brighton when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Monday night.
The Red Devils have not won the Premier League title since their final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013.
