Manchester United are set to fine Anthony Martial £180,000 after the France international went AWOL for eight days of their pre-season tour, according to a report in England.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the 22-year-old is facing a big fine after he failed to report back to pre-season duty following the birth of his second child.

The same article states Martial has not trained in the eight days since returning to Paris for the birth of his baby boy with his partner Melanie De La Cruz.

Jose Mourinho publicly called for Martial to return to the Manchester United squad ahead of the Red Devils’ flight back to England from the tour of the United States.

According to the same story, Manchester United believe Martial is in breach of his contract and the Red Devils want to fine the controversial French star a fortnights’ wages.

Martial has been linked with a move to Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window following a difficult two-season spell under Mourinho.

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also thought to be monitoring Martial’s situation at Manchester United, while the former AS Monaco star has been linked with a move to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
