Jose Mourinho has pleaded with Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward to sell Anthony Martial, according to a report in England.
The Daily Star is reporting that Mourinho believes Martial isn’t good enough for Manchester United following a series of inconsistent performances.
The same article states that the Manchester United manager wants to sell Martial to the highest bidder before the close of Europe’s summer transfer window on 31 August.
According to the same story, Woodward is an admirer of Martial and the Manchester United chief doesn’t want to sell Martial this summer.
The Daily Star goes on to confirm that Martial’s situation is creating tension between Mourinho and Woodward.
Manchester United suffered a 3-2 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon following consolation goals from Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba.
The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge of the Old Trafford outfit.
Manchester United finished in second spot in the Premier League table last term to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
Mourinho’s side lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley back in May following Eden Hazard’s winner.
