Wes Brown names Man United star who should leave Old Trafford
Man United legend Wes Brown believes Chris Smalling should consider leaving the Old Trafford outfit

Chris Smalling should consider leaving Manchester United this summer, according to Red Devils legend Wes Brown.
The England international was left out of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup this summer following mixed season at Manchester United.
Smalling struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Red Devils team to raise questions about his future at Old Trafford.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is thought to be in the market to sign a new centre-half in the 2018 summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have been linked with a swoop to sign FC Barcelona defender Yerry Mina, Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld and Leicester City star Harry Maguire.
Former Manchester United defender Brown believes Smalling should consider a potential exit this summer to salvage his Premier League career.
“Chris Smalling two seasons ago was United’s best defender. Then Jose started to make a few changes and he hasn’t played a lot since then,” said Brown, speaking exclusively to 888sport.
“He might have had a word with the manager already asking what the plan is for his future and if Jose has said he won’t be playing much then it’s in Chris’ best interests to leave and get first team football.
“If he’s not said that though then there is still competition for places there. Chris is still at a good age and will want to be playing.”
Mourinho has signed Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot and veteran England goalkeeper Lee Grant.
Manchester United lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley last term following Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.
The Red Devils won the Europa League and the League Cup in Mourinho’s first season in charge at Old Trafford but ended his second campaign without silverware.
