Ed Woodward is keen to appoint Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar as their new director of football, according to a report

Ed Woodward is considering the appointment of Edwin van der Sar as Manchester United’s new director of football, according to a report in England.
The Independent, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Woodward is working hard to identify a candidate to become Manchester United’s director of football.
The same article states that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is also involved in the recruitment process given the Portuguese head coach will be working in tandem with the director of football.
According to the same story, the Red Devils have been impressed with Van der Sar’s work at Ajax as a director of football.
The Independent adds that Manchester United are interested in Roma’s Monchi and Juventus’ Fabio Paratici to fill the new role at Old Trafford.
The 20-time English champions endured a frustrating 2018 summer transfer window after the Red Devils missed out on some key targets.
Manchester United signed Brazil international Fred in a £52m deal from Shakthar Donetsk to improve their midfield options in the new season.
The Red Devils have also added FC Porto full-back Diogo Dalot in a £17m signing.
The FA Cup runners up recruited veteran English goalkeeper Lee Grant in a £1.5m switch from relegated Stoke City.
