Jose Mourinho wants to remain at Manchester United despite a difficult summer so far, reporter Duncan Castles has claimed.

The Red Devils appointed Mourinho as their new manager back in May 2016 after Louis van Gaal was sacked.

Manchester United won the Europa League and the League Cup in their first season under Mourinho’s management.

The 20-time English champions finished in fifth spot but secured their spot in the Champions League thanks to their win over Ajax.

Mourinho was unable to win silverware in his second season at Manchester United to heap pressure on the Portuguese coach.

Manchester United finished in second spot but their style of football under Mourinho attracted plenty of criticism.

Mourinho has struck a frustrated figure in the transfer window so far to raise questions about his future at Old Trafford.

Sunday Times reporter Castles tipped Manchester United to remain at Old Trafford over the next 12 months.

“I don’t think it is an inevitably.” Castles told the Transfer Window podcast. |There is a decision that has to be made by both parties.

“He wants to be there. He wants to bring the Premier League title back to the club. That’s what he expects the club to want as well.”

Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table but ended up 19 points adrift of champions Manchester City.

The Red Devils have signed Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot and English goalkeeper Lee Grant.
