Jose Mourinho warned about ‘crazy’ Man United transfer
ESPN FC pundit Steve Nicol tells Manchester United to keep their club record signing Paul Pogba
Manchester United would be crazy to sell Paul Pogba, Steve Nicol has warned Jose Mourinho.
The France star was linked with a potential move in the summer transfer window following a difficult second season at Old Trafford.
Pogba earned rave reviews after he helped France to win the World Cup for the second time in their history.
The 25-year-old scored in France’s 4-2 win over Croatia to secure their first World Cup crown since their success on home soil in 1998.
Manchester United were thought to have received an offer from FC Barcelona for their club record signing this summer.
The Red Devils will be hoping that Pogba can transfer his France form to the Manchester United team ahead of a potential title tilt.
Pogba scored Manchester United’s opening goal in a 2-1 win over Leicester in their Premier League opener on Friday after being handed the captain’s armband.
Former Liverpool FC defender Nicol believes Manchester United would be foolish to sell Pogba in the near future.
“I don’t see how Man United can get rid of this guy,” Nicol told ESPN FC.
“If a star man has a problem with the manager, it is the manager who goes first. Man United would be crazy to sell Pogba.”
Manchester United sold Pogba in an £800,000 deal to Juventus in 2012 after Sir Alex Ferguson failed to guarantee the midfielder first-team football.
The Red Devils re-signed the 25-year-old in an £89m deal from the Serie A champions in the 2016 summer transfer window.
