Shaka Hislop says he doesn’t blame Paul Pogba for looking to leave Manchester United.

The France international was heavily linked with a move to La Liga champions FC Barcelona in the final week of the British summer transfer window.

Pogba has failed to rekindle his impressive Juventus form in a Manchester United shirt since his world record move back to Old Trafford.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho hasn’t been afraid to criticise Pogba over the past two Premier League seasons.

The World Cup winner was omitted from the Manchester United starting XI for their 2-1 aggregate loss to Sevilla in the Champions League round of 16.

Mourinho opted to make Antonio Valencia the club’s new captain ahead of Pogba to raise further questions about his faith in the 25-year-old.

Pogba did get the captain’s armband in the absence of Valencia as he scored in a 2-1 win over Leicester on Friday night.

Former Newcastle and West Ham goalkeeper Hislop believes Pogba can’t be blamed for looking to manufacture a move away from Old Trafford.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if an attractive offer was put on the table Pogba’s ears would perk up,” Hislop told ESPN FC.

“You can’t blame him after everything he has endured with Mourinho over the past 12 months.”

Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last season to secure their best league position since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Ferguson’s men beat Manchester City to the top-flight crown.
