Manchester United target Toby Alderweireld is prepared to run down his contract at Tottenham, according to a report in England
Toby Alderweireld is set to run down his contract at Tottenham Hotspur to force a move to Manchester United, according to a report in England.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Belgium international is prepared to take drastic measures and allow his contract to expire at Tottenham to secure his desired move to Manchester United.
The same article states that Spurs are demanding a transfer fee in the region of £75m, which more than Manchester United are willing to pay for the 29-year-old, who will become a free agent in the summer of 2020.
According to the same story, Alderweireld has his heart set on a move to Manchester United and is prepared to reject a move to another club to wait a season to move to Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old centre-half is set to become a free agent at the end of the 2018-19 Premier League season unless Spurs decide to activate a clause in his contract.
Spurs have the option to extend Alderweireld’s deal by an extra 12 months but the Belgian centre-half will be available to sign in a cut price £25m transfer deal.
Tottenham finished in third spot in the Premier League table last term.
