Gary Neville advises Jose Mourinho ahead of Man United v Tottenham
Gary Neville urges Jose Mourinho to focus on preparing his Man United team for their clash with Tottenham this weekend
Gary Neville has urged Jose Mourinho to focus on preparing his Manchester United team for their crunch clash with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this weekend.
The Red Devils slumped to a disappointing 3-2 loss by Brighton and Hove Albion in their second Premier League game of the season on Sunday as they suffered an early blow to their title hopes.
Mourinho has cut a frustrated figure at Old Trafford in recent weeks after the Red Devils only signed three new players in the summer transfer window.
There appear to be a number of off the pitch issues at Old Trafford but Neville has now called on the Portuguese coach to focus on properly preparing his side for their crunch clash against Tottenham on Monday night.
Speaking on his Sky Sports podcast, Neville said: “I have felt it being forced a little bit with the Paul Pogba issue this week. They’re trying to force this issue.
“I think he will leave the players because what he needs now is get them right for a week on Monday, a big game against Tottenham, and it is only the second game of the season.
“It’s a worry but it’s only the second game of the season so it’s not terminal.”
Manchester United will be aiming to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title this season as they bid to try and lift the trophy this term.
The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table last season under Mourinho and without a trophy in the Portuguese coach’s second campaign in charge.
