Ray Parlour tips 31-year-old to start in Man United v Tottenham
Ray Parlour is expecting to see Hugo Lloris start for Tottenham against Man United on Monday night
Ray Parlour is expecting to see Hugo Lloris start for Tottenham Hotspur against Manchester United on Monday night, despite the goalkeeper being charged with drink-driving.
The goalkeeper will appear in court in September after having been charged following a routine patrol stop in the early hours of Friday morning.
Lloris did not train with his Tottenham team-mates ahead of their clash with Manchester United on Monday night in the Premier League.
Despite the situation, former Arsenal star Parlour says he would be surprised if Lloris didn’t feature for the north London side against the Red Devils at Old Trafford on Monday night.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Parlour said: “I’ll be amazed if he doesn’t play.
“We know that he’s such an important player for Spurs, as we saw that he was in the World Cup for France.
“It’s bad news for him what has happened but I’m such Pochettino will assess the situation over the weekend.
“Strikers are going to score you the goals but goalkeepers are some of the most important people as well, they keep you in games at vital stages of games. I’m sure he’ll be playing on Monday.”
Manchester United are preparing to host the Lilywhites as they look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.
The Red Devils suffered a surprise defeat by Brighton and Hove Albion in the top flight last weekend as they found themselves under pressure after just two games of the new campaign.
Tottenham, meanwhile, have taken six points from their opening two Premier League games heading into their trip to Old Trafford on Monday night in the top flight.
