Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Man United v Tottenham
Mark Lawrenson is tipping Man United to bounce back to winning ways by claiming a 2-1 win over Tottenham
Mark Lawrenson is tipping Manchester United to bounce back to winning ways by claiming a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Monday night.
The Red Devils have had the week to digest their disappointing 3-2 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion in the top flight on Sunday afternoon.
Jose Mourinho will be looking for a response from his players as the Red Devils look to try and establish themselves as one of the main contenders for the Premier League title this season.
Manchester United are aiming to be among the contenders challenging Manchester City’s dominance at the top of the Premier League table this season.
And former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson feels that the Red Devils are likely to be able to claim the three points against Spurs at Old Trafford on Monday night.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Tottenham do not have a very good record at Old Trafford – they have lost their past five trips to Old Trafford, scoring just once.
“Manchester United will be hurting after being rolled over by Brighton. There seem to be some tensions there and there will be people with points to prove.
“Mourinho will be very intent on, once again, stopping Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen in the Spurs attack.”
Manchester United ended last season without a trophy as they finished in second place in the table in Mourinho’s second campaign in charge.
The Red Devils have not won the Premier League title since their famous final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013, before the Scot retired.
