Spanish outlet Don Balon, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that Mourinho is keen to bring Rakitic to Old Trafford as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the start of the season next week.
Pogba’s future at Old Trafford has been something of a source of speculation this summer after he struggled to produce consistent performances for the Red Devils under Mourinho last term.
Now, it is being suggested that Manchester United could look to cash in on Pogba by letting him move to FC Barcelona, with Rakitic heading on the other direction.
Rakitic earned praise for his performances for Croatia as he helped his national team to reach the World Cup final before they lost to Pogba’s France.
Manchester United are still believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to try and build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
The Red Devils finished in second place and without a trophy last term under Mourinho.
