Martin Keown believes Liverpool FC will win the Premier League title this season, but the Arsenal legend has tipped Manchester City to get their hands on their first Champions League title.

The Reds have significantly strengthened their squad in the summer transfer window to give Jurgen Klopp the options to launch a sustained title challenge for the first time since 2013-14.

Klopp signed AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho, RB Leipzig star Naby Keita, Stoke City forward Xherdan Shaqiri and AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool FC have won their opening three Premier League games over West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion to sit at the top of the table ahead of Chelsea and Spurs on goal difference.

Defending champions Manchester City are two points behind Liverpool FC after a 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend to drop points in the early weeks of the title race,

The Citizens finished 19 points ahead of their closest competitors last term but Manchester City lost 5-1 to Liverpool FC in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Former Arsenal star Keown believes Liverpool FC could win the title and Manchester City finally secure their first European trophy.

“Given the vast sums of money spent by Premier League clubs, we should be getting teams to the latter stages of the Champions League,” Keown told the Daily Mail.

“I said before the season started that Liverpool could be Premier League champions this season — and it is very difficult to win both your domestic league and the European Cup.

“If Jurgen Klopp’s side are dominant domestically, Manchester City could end up as champions of Europe. ”
