Craig Burley has warned that Chelsea FC risk becoming the new Arsenal.

The Blues have endured a difficult summer after Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last term.

The west London side missed out on a spot in the Champions League for the second time in three seasons to result in Antonio Conte’s dismissal.

Chelsea FC waited until July to finally axe Conte to leave his replacement Maurizio Sarri with limited time in pre season.

Sarri has signed Napoli midfielder Jorginho in a £57m deal and England veteran Rob Green in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea FC lost 2-0 to Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday to suggest that the Blues will struggle to challenge this term.

Former Chelsea FC defender Burley suggested that the Blues are in risk of becoming the new Arsenal.

“They have become like Arsenal,” Burley told ESPN FC.

“Will they make the top four and will that be a success? It has never been a success for this owner.

“This is a big turnaround from where they’ve been in the last couple of years.”

Arsenal finished in sixth spot behind Chelsea FC last season to result in Arsene Wenger’s exit following 22 seasons in charge.

The Blues will take part in the Europa League this season following their disappointing fifth placed finish.
