Mesut Ozil looked to be in good shape after having returned to Arsenal training ahead of their trip to Cardiff City this weekend.

The German playmaker was left out of the Arsenal squad for their 3-1 win over West Ham United at The Emirates last weekend due to illness, but he seems to be on his way back to full fitness after having reported for training at London Colney this week.

There had been reports of a bust-up between Ozil and new boss Unai Emery in training last week, but the Gunners manager denied those claims after Saturday’s win and simply insisted that the playmaker was ill.

And Ozil now seems to be in contention for a place in the Arsenal team as the Gunners look to try and make it back to back wins in the Premier League when they travel to Wales on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal notched up their first Premier League points of the season last weekend when they claimed a home win over the Hammers at The Emirates.

Emery has been tasked with steering Arsenal back into the top four this season after they finished in sixth place in the table and without a trophy under Arsene Wenger last term.
