Michael Owen states his prediction for Newcastle v Chelsea FC
The Liverpool FC legend believes Chelsea FC will make a third successive Premier League win against Newcastle on Sunday
Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC’s superior class to help the Blues beat Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.
The west London side have made a positive start to life under new manager Maurizio Sarri after the former Napoli manager replaced Antonio Conte at the end of the 2017-18 Premier League season.
Chelsea FC lost 2-0 to defending Premier League champions Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley.
However, the Blues were comfortable 3-0 winners against David Wagner’s Huddersfield Town side at John Smith’s Stadium to secure three points under their new manager Sarri
Chelsea FC edged to a 3-2 victory over Arsenal in the London derby at Stamford Bridge last weekend after Marcos Alonso netted a late winner for Sarri’s men.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is confident that Sarri’s Chelsea FC side will secure a third successive Premier League victory under the Italian head coach.
“United were left rueing Kenedy’s late penalty miss at Cardiff on Saturday, although a point gained with ten men following a goalless draw in south Wales was a decent enough return,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Chelsea have picked up six goals and six points from their two games to date and I just feel the west London outfit’s superior class will prevail, although Spurs had luck on their side when they picked up maximum points at St James’s Park on the opening weekend of the campaign.”
Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on Champions League football for the second time in three campaigns.
The Blues signed Real Madrid star Mateo Kovacic, Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa, veteran goalkeeper Rob Green and Napoli star Jorginho in the summer transfer window.
