Jamie Carragher heaped praise on Virgil van Dijk after Liverpool FC’s 2-0 win at Crystal Palace on Monday night.

The Reds travelled to the English capital looking to keep pace with defending Premier League champions Manchester City at the top of the table.

Liverpool FC were 4-0 winners against West Ham United at Anfield in the opening weekend after goals from Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge.

Klopp stuck with the same starting XI for the trip to Palace and James Milner broke the deadlock from the penalty spot.

Sadio Mane sealed three points in added time at the end of the Premier League clash after Palace were reduced to 10 men.

Van Dijk won the header in the box to start the move that led to Mane’s fifth goal in five games against Palace.

Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher raved about Van Dijk’s performance in the Merseyside outfit’s 2-0 win against Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night.

Carragher wrote on Twitter: “All from @VirgilvDijk two big headers defensively that goal. He’s been immense. #CRYLIV”

Liverpool FC signed AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho, RB Leipzig star Naby Keita, Stoke City playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri and AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker in the summer transfer window.

The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
