Sanchez moved to Old Trafford back in January from arch-rivals Arsenal FC and he has since made 21 competitive appearances for the club, scoring three goals.
His modest strike rate so far has been mirrored by his strangely subdued performances as the Chilean has so far failed to produce his best form in the famous red shirt.
The 29-year-old has featured in three of Manchester United’s opening games at the start of the 2018-19 Premier League season but has once again failed to inspire the team to success.
Jose Mourinho’s men have lost two of their four matches so far and are thusly already six points behind their title-rivals, with Watford next up for the team on Saturday at Vicarage Road.
However, Ex-Manchester United captain Robson has praised Sanchez in the wake of recent criticism, revealing how impressed he has been by his mental strength.
He told the Daily Star: “For me, he is a top player. He has a winning mentality, works hard for the team and has great ability.”
The former Arsenal striker’s ability is unquestionable but supporters will want to see him making an impact in more advanced positions as the season progresses.
If Manchester United are to turn their season around quickly and challenge for major honours, Sanchez will be vital in driving the team forward, he now just needs to prove he has the desire to succeed in the face of adversity.
