Alisson lifts lid on ‘calming’ talk with Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp
Alisson Becker lifts the lid on a chat he had with Jurgen Klopp before signing for Liverpool FC this summer
Alisson Becker has revealed that a conversation he had with Jurgen Klopp before signing for Liverpool FC helped to “calm” him down ahead of the move.
The Brazilian goalkeeper signed for the Reds in July as the Merseyside outfit moved quickly to bring in the shot-stopper following Loris Karius’ Champions League final nightmare last season.
Allison has been in impressive form since his move to Anfield and he has helped the Reds to keep three clean sheets in their opening three Premier League games to lead the way at the top of the table.
Liverpool FC will look to make it four wins on the spin in the top flight when they take on Leicester City on Saturday lunchtime.
And the Reds shot-stopper has now opened up about how a chat with Klopp helped to convince him that a move to Anfield was the right decision for him.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN, Alisson said: “[Klopp] is a person who gives himself 100 per cent to what he is doing,” Alisson told ESPN Brasil.
“The chat I had with him [before joining Liverpool] is one of the things that left me more calm.
“He showed his interest in having me, not only the club’s interest but also his. It was a long interview despite my staggered English, but we understood each other well.
“He told me about how he works, how I would fit into the squad, how I also could grow personally here. He told me a little bit about the project – a project with a winning mindset.
“Now that I am inside I am aware that everything he told me is a reality.”
Liverpool FC are still aiming to try and win their first trophy under Klopp since his appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.
The Reds finished in fourth place and without a trophy last season under the German manager.
