Unai Emery won’t allow Mesut Ozil to dictate terms at Arsenal, former Irish defender Gary Breen has claimed.

The Gunners appointed the former Paris Saint-Gemrain manager as Arsene Wenger’s replacement in the summer.

Emery led PSG to the Ligue 1 title in his final season in charge but the Spanish head coach struggled to manage Neymar.

Ozil signed a new £350,000-a-week contract at the north London side in February, having been linked with Manchester United.

The World Cup star has struggled to produce his best form since signing a new deal with Arsenal under Emery and Wenger.

The new Gunners manager has preferred to use Aaron Ramsey in a number 10 role, moving Ozil to the right wing.

Former Coventry defender Breen has warned Ozil that he will find it difficult to manipulate Emery following the manager’s experience at PSG.

“Ozil can’t take on Emery,” Breen told Irish radio station Newstalk.

“There is no way Emery is going to let a player dictate to him the way Neymar did. He has learned his lesson.”

Arsenal have won their last three Premier League games to hoist themselves up to seventh place in the Premier League table.

The Gunners finished in sixth spot in the English top flight last season to miss out on silverware in Wenger’s final campaign in charge.
