Alexandre Lacazette believes that he and Pierre-Emmerick Aubameyang ‘complement’ each other as a partnership up front for Arsenal FC.

On Sunday afternoon, Arsenal FC emerged victorious after a hard fought battle with Cardiff City in Wales, with both strikers managing to get on the scoresheet.

Lacazette assisted Aubameyang for the second goal of the game with a neat little lay off and the understanding between the two men was evident throughout the game, which bodes well for the future.

It was the first time they had started together as a pair and when Lacazette struck home the winner from a tight angle with ten minutes to go it capped a superb overall display from the new striking partnership.

The French hit-man gave his take on their performance post-match – as per The Daily Express.

“It is nice as we complement each other’s game,” said Lacazette.

“It is always good to play with good players and he deserved to score as he has worked hard from the beginning of the season.

“Against Chelsea it was hard for him as he missed some chances but he has got over that, and it was nice to play well with him. The system was good, we worked on it all week.

“It was different but good. It’s always going to be hard to be in the first XI at a club like this, but I always keep fighting and working. I won’t play every week just because of one game. Every day I have to work and show the coach I work well and I deserve my place.”

New Arsenal boss Unai Emery will no doubt be tempted to start the pair again for their trip to Newcastle in a fortnight and supporters will be excited by the prospect of seeing the two strikers causing havoc at St James Park, to hopefully help the team climb further up the league table.
