The Uruguay international has been settling into life at The Emirates after arriving at the north London club from Italian side Sampdoria in the summer transfer window.
Torreira was made to wait for his first Premier League start of the season as he was a substitute in the Gunners’ first five games of the new campaign in the top flight.
However, he featured from the start last weekend as he helped Arsenal to claim a 2-0 win over Everton in the Premier League at The Emirates.
He will be hoping to feature from the start once again when Arsenal host Watford in the Premier League at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
And former Liverpool star Lawrenson has admitted that he has been very impressed by what he has seen from the 22-year-old in an Arsenal shirt so far this term.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “As well as their good results, I like the look of Lucas Torreira in midfield, so there is lots to be encouraged about.”
Arsenal are aiming to try and break back into the top four this season as they look to try and establish themselves back in the Champions League.
The Gunners have not finished in the Champions League qualification spots for the last two seasons running.
