Jamie Redknapp has warned Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that he must start affecting the big games at Arsenal if he wants to be considered one of the club’s best forwards.

The Gabon international has been settling into life at The Emirates in recent months after arriving at the club from Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window.

Aubameyang will be aiming to help fire Arsenal back into the top four this season as Unai Emery attempts to guide the Gunners towards Champions League qualification this season.

The forward has netted three goals in all competitions for Emery’s men so far this season and he will be hoping to start scoring regularly for the north London side.

Redknapp is a big fan of Aubameyang but he admits that he wants to see more from the striker on a regular basis and in the big games before he can fully prove himself at The Emirates.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Redknapp said of Aubameyang: “I think he can be really dangerous, especially alongside Alexandre Lacazette, who he seems to have great chemistry with, but I was surprised to see him compared to Thierry Henry recently.

“You can’t talk about him in the same breath yet, because what Thierry did was affect big games in the Premier League. Aubameyang has got to start doing that.

“When they play Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, that’s when you want to see Aubameyang scoring goals.

“If he’s going to earn comparisons with Henry, I think that’s the next step for him.”

Aubameyang will be expecting to start for Arsenal when the Gunners take on Everton in the Premier League at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

The north London side are aiming to make it four wins in a row in the Premier League this season as they look to try and challenge for a top-four finish following their sixth-placed finish under Arsene Wenger last term.
