Torreira is currently getting used to life at The Emirates after having signed for the Gunners from Italian side Sampdoria in the summer transfer window.
The midfielder joins Arsenal after having made a handful of impressive performances for Uruguay at the World Cup in Russia over the summer.
The 22-year-old notched up an assist as he helped Arsenal to claim a 3-2 win over Cardiff City in their most recent Premier League outing.
However, despite his impressive appearances off the bench, Torreira is yet to make his first start in the Premier League this season under new boss Unai Emery.
And former Arsenal star Gilberto is hopeful that Torreira can have a similar impact at The Emirates as Kante has since the Frenchman’s arrival in the Premier League.
Speaking in an interview quoted in the Daily Express, Silva said when asked about Torreira: “Of course, you have Kante at Chelsea.
“He’s a small player. It’s about how smart they are to play in this position, to find the best ball to give, play nice and simple.”
Torreira will be hoping to make his first Premier League start of the season on Saturday when the Gunners travel to Newcastle United in the top flight.
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in 2003-04.
