Gary Linker praised Daniel Sturridge for his impact from the bench in Liverpool FC’s 1-1 draw at Chelsea FC on Saturday evening.

Liverpool FC suffered the disappointment of an early EFL Cup exit mid-week after Eden Hazard netted a brilliant winner to secure a 2-1 win at Anfield after Emerson Palmieri cancelled out Sturridge’s opening goal.

Reigning PFA player of the year Mohamed Salah wasted a brace of chances in the first half against his former club and the Egypt international was taken off in the second half.

Hazard proved to be Liverpool FC’s nemesis once again on Saturday evening after the Chelsea FC number 10 finished past Alisson Becker with Trent Alexander-Arnold out of position.

Xherdan Shaqiri, who replaced Salah, wasted a great chance to equalise when he pushed his finish the wrong side of the post with Kepa to beat in the Blues goal.

However, Klopp’s final substitution Sturridge scored a brilliant equaliser when he picked up the ball on the edge of the area and beat the Chelsea FC record signing.

Former Spurs forward Lineker took to Twitter to praise Sturridge for his sumptuous equaliser at Stamford Bridge.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Wow. What a sensational goal from Sturridge with virtually his first touch….well second.”
