Ex-Chelsea FC star predicts Eden Hazard will score 40 goals this season
The Chelsea FC legend is tipping Eden Hazard to score 40 goals in the current campaign
Eden Hazard will score 40 goals for Chelsea FC this season, according to former Blues striker Scott Minto.
The Belgium international has made a brilliant start to the Premier League season following the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as Antonio Conte’s replacement.
Hazard has started two games and has made three substitute appearances in the Premier League so far but the Belgian star has managed to score five times.
The 27-year-old scored just his second hat-trick for Chelsea FC in a 4-1 win over promoted side Cardiff City at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
Hazard’s best return for an individual season is 16 goals after the Belgium international fired Conte’s side to the Premier League title in 2016-17.
However, former Chelsea FC striker Minto believes Hazard could be set to smash that haul in the current campaign under Italian head coach Sarri.
“I do think he’s capable of [of scoring 40 goals],” Minto told Love Sport Radio. “I really do. I covered Spanish football for four years and I saw Ronaldo and Messi, and the way they did it.
“He’s just below them. I’ve not met him but I’ve heard about what he’s like as a person and a trainer. He’s a great lad, he’s one of the boys, he works hard. But I don’t think he quite realises how good he can be and what exactly you need to do to get every last ounce out of yourself to be the best.
“Him trying at 50 per cent is better than the rest of us could ever be, but him trying at 100 per cent and really believing he could get up to the Ronaldo and the Messi level…”
Hazard was linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the summer transfer window but a transfer failed to materialise.
The Belgian forward has won two Premier League titles, the League Cup, the FA Cup and the Europa League during six seasons at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea FC are sitting at the top of the Premier League table following five games ahead of their trip to West Ham United.
