Maurizio Sarri sets Chelsea FC challenge for Eden Hazard
The Chelsea FC manager is hoping Eden Hazard can challenge for the Golden Boot
Maurizio Sarri has challenged Chelsea FC star Eden Hazard to win the Golden Boot this season.
The Belgium international has made a prolific start to the Premier League campaign under Antonio Conte’s replacement.
Hazard scored his first hat-trick of the campaign following his treble in Chelsea FC’s 4-1 win over Cardiff City.
The 27-year-old has netted five times in five games in the Premier League to sit at the top of the division’s goal-scoring charts.
The former Lille star won the PFA player of the year award in 2015 after Hazard fired Chelsea FC to the Premier League title.
Hazard has never won the Golden Boot, which has been dominated by Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in recent seasons.
Liverpool FC star Mo Salah finished as the Premier League’s leading goal-scorer last term after a return of 32 top flight goals.
Sarri is hoping that Hazard can have a similarly prolific campaign to challenge for the Golden Boot.
Asked if Hazard can outscore Salah, Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane, Sarri said: “I think so,’ Sarri said when asked if he thinks Hazard can score more than Salah, Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero.
“I talked with Eden [on Friday] and I told him that for me, he can score 40 goals. He has to improve something, but he can do it.
“If you saw the game today, you have to say [he believed me].”
Hazard has won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League during six seasons at the west London outfit.
The Blues finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a Champions League spot.
