Chelsea FC told the difference between Hazard and Messi
Chelsea FC legend Pat Nevin examines the difference between Eden Hazard and Lionel Messi
Pat Nevin believes Eden Hazard won’t be considered in the same bracket as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo unless the Chelsea FC star improves his goal ratio.
The Belgium international has firmly established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League over the past six seasons following his move to Chelsea FC from Lille in 2012.
Hazard won the PFA player of the year award in 2015 after the 27-year-old scored 14 goals to fire the Blues to the Premier League title and the League Cup.
The Belgian forward netted 16 times in Chelsea FC’s title success under Antonio Conte in 2016-17 to further underline his importance to the west London outfit.
Hazard was linked with a potential move to Real Madrid in the 2018 summer transfer window following Ronaldo’s switch to Serie A champions Juventus.
However, the Chelsea FC number 10 ultimately remained at Stamford Bridge and has scored five times in his opening five Premier League fixtures.
The Belgian star netted a hat-trick in Chelsea FC’s 4-1 win over Cardiff City to maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season.
Former Chelsea FC star Nevin explained the difference between Hazard and the world’s two best players.
“The gap between Messi or Ronaldo and the likes of Eden Hazard has always come down to goal-scoring ratios and to be fair, those two have phenomenal numbers year in year out,” Nevin told Chelsea FC’s website.
“Over their careers it is mind-boggling, Messi has over 620 goals in 770 appearances and Ronaldo has 660 in just over 900 appearances.
“There have been long periods when they have both been getting more than a goal a game. In fact Ronaldo’s entire Real Madrid career averaged well over a goal every game. These are extraordinary numbers.”
