Stuart Pearce has challenged Ross Barkley to find consistency in the Chelsea FC team.

The England international moved to Chelsea FC in a cut price deal from Everton in the January transfer window.

Barkley struggled to break into the Blues team in the second half of the 2017-18 season.

The 24-year-old has been given a new lease of life under new Chelsea FC manager Maurizio Sarri.

Indeed, Barkley has started two Premier League games as well as making three appearances from the bench.

The English playmaker made an assist for Chelsea FC’s winner in a 1-0 victory over PAOK in their Europa League opener in Greece last week.

Former Manchester City defender Pearce offered some advice to Barkley after his promising start to the Premier League season at Chelsea FC.

“He has a great deal of ability and has struggled with injuries,” Pearce told Sky Sports.

“Sometimes he struggles with the understanding of games. His challenge is to be consistently in the Chelsea team.

Barkley was considered one of England’s great prospects when the attacking midfielder came through at Everton almost seven seasons ago.

The England international netted 27 times in 179 games in all competitions for the Toffees.

Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a Champions League spot.

The Blues will take on Premier League leaders Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
