The Blues travelled to Anfield in the League Cup third round on Wednesday night and Chelsea FC came from behind to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Emerson Palmieri and Eden Hazard.
Chelsea FC were 1-0 winners against Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge at the end of the 2017-18 season but the Blues still missed out on fourth place.
Former Arsenal star Merson believes Jurgen Klopp’s men will be more than happy to settle for a point at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
“This will be a very intriguing game. You’ve got Eden Hazard who you could see on Wednesday is the best of the best at the moment without a doubt but you’ve still got the big boys to come back for Liverpool like Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and the back four,” Merson told Sky Sports.
He added: “But it was like a boxing match, no one was really showing their hand until Hazard came on and you’re thinking ‘how do you stop him?’. I think Liverpool will be more than happy with a 1-1 draw, that would be a great result for them.”
Maurizio Sarri took over the reins of the Chelsea FC team from his compatriot Antonio Conte in the summer.
