However, the playmaker has ended up staying at the west London club and he has started the new campaign in brilliant form under new boss Sarri.
Hazard has been earning comparisons to some of the world’s top players and he has been in excellent form for the west London club so far this term.
And Hazard has admitted his delight at being compared to some of the world’s top players.
Asked by Sky Sports News about being compared to some of the world’s best players, Hazard replied: “It is good. I try to do what I can do when I am on the pitch.
“I am the same player as two years ago, three years ago.
“At the moment, I am just scoring goals, so that is why everyone is talking for me to be in the top three. It is a pleasure to be there. I just want to keep going.”
Chelsea FC will return to Europa League action on Thursday night when they take on Videoton at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are aiming to at least break back into the top four this season after they finished fifth and won the FA Cup last term.
