The Spanish midfielder has been kept out of action with a knee injury during the opening stages of the new season under Maurizio Sarri, but he came on to play the final 25 minutes of Chelsea FC’s Europa League clash in Greece on Thursday night.
Fabregas had been struggling with a knee injury that has kept him out of action during the early parts of Maurizio Sarri’s reign at Stamford Bridge.
However, the 31-year-old came off the bench to make his first appearance of the season for the Blues during the Europa League win on Thursday night.
And the Spanish midfielder has revealed his delight at having featured for the Blues for the first time this season under Sarri.
Speaking to Chelsea FC’s website after the game, Fabregas said: “It’s good to be back.
“I’m not 100 per cent yet but I have had eight sessions with the team. I have been working hard hoping for this day, and I enjoyed it.”
Fabregas will once again be hoping to be involved when Chelsea FC return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a trip to the London Stadium to take on West Ham United.
The Blues have won all five of their opening Premier League games to leave them leading the way at the top of the table.
