The Croatia international is getting used to life at Stamford Bridge after having signed for Chelsea FC on a season-long loan deal back in the summer transfer window.
Kovacic is aiming to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League as quickly as possible as he bids to try and help Maurizio Sarri’s men to enjoy a successful season.
Now, the Chelsea FC summer signing has revealed that Manchester United legend Scholes was one of his main idols as he was developing as a young footballer.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Kovacic said: Every player has to be himself – but for me Scholes was one of the best ever
“He was amazing. I still enjoy watching his videos on YouTube. Sometimes I go home and watch him to learn something new.
“He had everything, he was the modern midfielder – scoring goals, defending well, tackling. I don’t copy anybody but I do like to watch Scholes.
“I also watch other players to see what I can do better. Players like Luka Modric and Andres Iniesta, too.”
Chelsea FC are now set to turn their attentions to League Cup affairs and their third-round clash against Liverpool FC at Anfield on Wednesday night.
The west London side are aiming to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title this season as they bid to try and win the top flight trophy.
Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the table and won the FA Cup in Antonio Conte’s final campaign in charge of the west London club last season.
