Mateo Kovacic can fulfil his “enormous” potential at Chelsea FC as long as he is given regular playing time, according to Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic.

Kovavic has been settling into life at Stamford Bridge after having signed for the Blues from Real Madrid on a season-long loan deal.

The Croatia midfielder has started both of Chelsea FC’s last two games in the Premier League and he helped them to seal a 2-0 win over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Kovacic will now be hoping to impress Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge as he bids to try and hold down a regular spot in the first team at the west London club.

And Croatia boss Dalic is hoping to see the midfielder given the chance to impress and develop his game during his time with the Premier League club.

Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Express, Dalic said: “He has done well to change clubs. He can only progress by playing constantly.

“At Real Madrid, he played now and again, and that was not enough for him.

“He has enormous potential. I hope he will have more opportunities at Chelsea.”

Chelsea FC are currently joint top of the Premier League table after having won all four of their opening games this season.

The west London club finished in fifth place in the table and won the FA Cup last season under Antonio Conte before he was sacked back in July.
