Paul Merson believes that Eden Hazard could be in line to win the Ballon d’Or if he continues his fine form for Chelsea FC this season.

The Belgian playmaker has been in superb form for the west London side this term and seems to have found a new lease of life under new manager Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.

Hazard has been in top form for the Blues and seems to be a threat in front of goal every time he gets the ball.

Chelsea FC fans will be hoping to see Hazard enjoy his best form for the Blues this season as he looks to try and help fire Sarri’s men to a genuine Premier League title challenge.

And Arsenal legend Merson seems to feel that the 27-year-old could well be on course to prove himself as one of the best players in world football this season.

Speaking in an interview with the Daily Star, Merson said: “I think he could challenge for the Balon d’Or this year, because he’s come back from a successful World Cup and is already ripping it up. He looks relaxed and happy.

“If he carries on the way he is, it’s going to be a hell of a ride for Chelsea fans this season.”

Chelsea FC will now switch their attentions back towards Europa League affairs and their home clash against Videoton on Thursday night in the group stage.

The west London side finished in fifth place in the table and won the FA Cup under Antonio Conte last term.
