The midfielder endured a difficult first few months at the west London club after having signed for the Blues from Everton back in the January transfer window under Antonio Conte.
Barkley struggled to break into the first team at Chelsea FC last season but he has impressed when called upon by new manager Maurizio Sarri this term.
The midfielder will now be hoping to establish himself as something of a regular fixture in the first team at Stamford Bridge under Sarri as he looks to try and force his way into Gareth Southgate’s England plans.
And Barkley feels that the stage is now set for him to enjoy a successful season under the new man in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Express, Barkley said: “These things happen in football and you have got to take them.
“I was injured and then I wasn’t in the squad. But you have just got to react in the right, positive way. I feel like I have done that. It’s important I let my football do the talking now.
“I want to let my feet do the talking for my club and if that happens, I believe I will be back on the international scene sooner rather than later.”
Chelsea FC will now turn their attentions back towards Europa League affairs and their home clash against Videoton on Thursday night in the group stage.
The west London club finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season and won the FA Cup under Conte before he was sacked and replaced by Sarri back in July.
