The Spanish midfielder is yet to feature from the start in the Premier League for the west London club this season after having suffered from a knee injury in the opening weeks of the campaign.
The 31-year-old midfielder has been working on his fitness levels behind the scenes at Cobham in recent days and the former Arsenal captain is now closing in on a comeback.
Fabregas has missed all five of Chelsea FC’s opening Premier League games under new boss Sarri, but the midfielder is now close to being able to make a return to action for the Blues.
And Sarri expressed his delight at Fabregas closing in on a comeback for the Blues ahead of Chelsea FC’s clash with Cardiff on Saturday.
Speaking at his news conference at Cobham before Saturday’s game, Sarri said: “The best news is that Fabregas is now very well.
“He has been training with the team during the week, so now he only has to improve his physical condition.
“In a few days, one week, he will be ready to play. At the moment Fabregas is able to be on the bench. I want to speak to him. Maybe it’s better for him to have two days of training.”
Chelsea FC will begin their Europa League group stage campaign on Thursday night when they travel PAOK.
The west London side are aiming to at least break back into the top four this season after they ended up in fifth place and won the FA Cup last term under Antonio Conte.
