The Belgium international has made an impressive start to the Premier League season following a return of five goals in five games so far.
Hazard scored his second hat-trick for Chelsea FC in a 4-1 victory over Cardiff City at Stamford Bridge to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.
The 27-year-old found the net against Newcastle United and Bournemouth to thrive under new Chelsea FC manager Maurizio Sarri.
Hazard hasn’t score more than 16 goals in a Premier League season despite winning two titles under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.
The Belgian star is the Premier League’s leading goal-scorer after five games ahead of Liverpool FC forward Sadio Mane and Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.
Former Manchester City manager Pearce believes Hazard would be hitting the 40-goal mark if the Belgian star was playing for the defending champions or Liverpool FC.
“I’m not sure Chelsea will dominate the league enough to create enough chances for Hazard to get 40 goals, because of Liverpool and Manchester City,” Pearce told Sky Sports.
“Put him in the Liverpool and Manchester City team at this moment in time and I think he might be able to.”
Hazard moved to Chelsea FC in a big money deal from Lille in the 2012 summer transfer window.
The Belgian star has won two Premier League titles, the League Cup, the FA Cup and the Europa League.
