The Blues are currently preparing to welcome the Welsh side to Stamford Bridge as Maurizio Sarri’s men look to continue their fine start to the new campaign.
Chelsea FC have won all four of their opening Premier League games so far this season to leave them leading the way and level on points with early leaders Liverpool FC.
They will be aiming to continue their solid form by beating Cardiff City in front of their home fans this weekend to make it five wins from their opening five games.
And former Liverpool FC star Lawrenson is backing the Blues to claim all three points when they host Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Like Liverpool and Watford, Chelsea have got a 100 per cent record from their first four league games and I see that perfect start continuing here.
“Cardiff, in contrast, have not won yet but I don’t think their manager Neil Warnock will be too concerned, even if they lose again on Saturday.
“The big games for the Bluebirds are against the teams that are going to be around them towards the bottom of the table – anything they get at Stamford Bridge is a bonus but they do not want to be on the end of a heavy defeat.
“I’d expect the Welsh side to be very competitive, but Chelsea will have too much for them.”
Chelsea FC are aiming to at the very least break back into the top four this season after the Blues ended up in fifth place last term under Antonio Conte.
They did manage to finish Conte’s reign on a positive note by beating Manchester United to win the FA Cup final back in May at Wembley.
