Gary Lineker hailed Paul Pogba’s “pearler” in Manchester United’s 3-0 win at Young Boys in their Champions League opener on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils eased to a commanding win over the Swiss side thanks to goals from French duo Pogba and Anthony Martial.

Manchester United eased into a first-half lead courtesy of Pogba’s superb opener after the World Cup winner combined with Fred before the midfielder finished with his left foot.

Pogba doubled the Red Devils lead before half-time from the penalty spot before Martial sealed three points to make a positive start to the Champions League this term.

Manchester United will take on Valencia at Old Trafford in their next fixture before back-to-back clashes against Serie A title holders Juventus.

Former Spurs forward Lineker took to Twitter to praise Pogba for his opening goal in Manchester United’s comfortable win in Switzerland.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: “A pearler from Pogba puts @ManUtd ahead.”

Manchester United are looking to win the Champions League for the first time since 2008 when the Red Devils beat Chelsea FC on penalties in Moscow.

The 20-time English champions lost to FC Barcelona in the Champions League showpiece in 2009 and 2011.

The Red Devils are in eighth place in the Premier League table following a 2-1 win at Watford last weekend.
