Hazard started the cup clash on the bench as Maurizio Sarri looked to rest the Belgium international ahead of their Premier League clash against Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
Daniel Sturridge broke the deadlock in the second half with an acrobatic goal to net his ninth goal in nine games in the League Cup.
January signing Emerson Palmieri levelled the Carabao Cup tie from close range to leave the clash heading towards a penalty shootout.
However, substitute Hazard scored a dramatic winner with five minutes to go after the Belgian star beat three defenders before he placed a finish past compatriot Simon Mignolet.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the Chelsea FC number 10 after the winner, Zola paid credit to Hazard for his sensational winner and described the Belgian star as one of the world’s best players.
“It’s a fantastic goal. Not only the beauty of it but for the time he scored it,” Zola told BBC Sport.
“Not only is he one of the best in the Premier League – if not the best – but he is one of the best in Europe and the world.
“In my opinion we haven’t seen the best of him yet. He’s remarkable.
“It’s a big win but to be fair it was a close game. Liverpool could have won. It’s fair to say they are a brilliant team.”
Chelsea FC will take on Premier League leaders Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
The Blues finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last term.
