John Aldridge reacts to Roberto Firmino’s goal in Liverpool FC’s 3-2 win over PSG
The Liverpool FC legend was thrilled with Roberto Firmino's winner in a 3-2 victory over PSG
John Aldridge thanked Roberto Firmino for making his 60th birthday after the Brazil forward came off the bench to score the winner in a 3-2 victory over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.
The Brazil international started Liverpool FC’s Champions League opener on the bench after the 26-year-old sustained an eye injury during Saturday’s 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur.
Liverpool FC broke the deadlock in the 30th minute when Firmino’s replacement Daniel Sturridge powered a header into the net following Andy Robertson’s brilliant cross.
Vice captain James Milner doubled the home side’s lead from the penalty spot after Netherlands international Georginio Wijnaldum was brought down in the box.
However, Ligue 1 champions PSG responded through Thomas Meunier in the 40th minute before World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe levelled with six minutes remaining at Anfield.
Firmino, though, produced the Champions League opener’s decisive moment with a low finish inside the area to secure three points for Liverpool FC in what promises to be a testing group.
Former Liverpool FC striker Aldridge dedicated a message to Firmino after the Brazilian’s sensational winner.
Aldridge wrote on Twitter: “Bobby!!just made my 60th!!obrigado amigo👍👍Justice was done we were by far the best team👍and Neymar never dived😉should have been 4-5/2 ynwa folks”
