The Reds will welcome their bitter rivals to Anfield in the domestic cup competition as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to maintain their winning start to the season.
The Merseyside outfit have won their opening seven fixtures in all competitions following a 3-0 victory over Southampton at Anfield last weekend.
Liverpool FC are sitting at the top of the Premier League table and two points clear of Manchester City and Chelsea FC.
Chelsea FC, on the other hand, played out a goalless draw with West Ham United in the derby at the London Stadium at the weekend.
The Blues will welcome Liverpool FC to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday evening but there is a small matter of the League Cup to deal with.
Sky Sports pundit Goodman believes the Merseyside outfit will edge to a 2-1 win against Chelsea FC at Anfield in the League Cup third round.
“This is juicy isn’t it, especially because they are playing each other in the Premier League at the weekend as well,” Goodman told Sky Sports.
“Whoever loses this game will say the cup wasn’t the priority and has no relevance to Saturday, and whoever wins will definitely use it going into that game.
“Neither side will want to lose but I just think the depth of Liverpool this season will be what sees them through to victory at Anfield.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to continue to make progress under Klopp.
The Reds lost to Manchester City on penalties in the League Cup final at Wembley in February 2015.
