Mark Schwarzer believes Daniel Sturridge can play an important role at Liverpool FC this term.

The Reds striker has struggled with persistent injuries over the past four seasons at the Merseyside outfit.

Sturridge appeared to facing a bleak future at the Anfield outfit following the England international’s loan move to West Brom last term.

However, the 29-year-old appears to be in good form with the benefit of a full pre-season under his belt.

Sturridge scored his first goal of the season in Liverpool FC’s 3-2 win against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The England star netted against his former club Chelsea FC in a 2-1 loss to the Blues in the Carabao Cup third round.

Former Chelsea FC goalkeeper Schwarzer believes Sturridge could play an important role for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“Hopefully for Liverpool Sturridge can get fit and he will get more of a run,” Schwarzer told Sky Sports.

“When he does, hopefully he can find the net.”

Liverpool FC signed Sturridge in a £12m deal from Chelsea FC in the 2013 January transfer window.

The Reds lost 3-1 to La Liga side Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev back in May.

The Merseyside outfit signed Fabinho, Naby Keita, Alisson Becker and Xherdan Shaqiri in the summer.
