The Switzerland international has been getting used to proceedings at Anfield after having signed for the Reds from relegated Stoke City in the summer transfer window.
Shaqiri will now be hoping to prove himself to manager Jurgen Klopp as he bids to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Anfield in the coming weeks and months.
The attacker was made to wait for his first appearances of the season but he has performed when called upon by Klopp this term.
And former Liverpool FC star Molby believes that the 26-year-old is already proving his worth to the Merseyside outfit following his transfer to the club.
Speaking in his Liverpool Echo column, Reds legend Molby said: “Xherdan Shaqiri has started his Liverpool career in good form, but he is a bright footballer so it should come as no surprise.
“He has got quick feet to match his brain and he sees things that others sometimes don’t in that final third.
“He is a different option for Klopp and he certainly brings his own quality to what is already a superb array of attacking options for the Liverpool boss.
“Sometimes teams haven’t been able to get the best out of him, but I think Jurgen will, no doubt.
“Stoke didn’t see the best of Shaqiri because they more or less refused to build their play around such a talented player.
“But if you give him an opportunity, he is almost like a playmaker who can operate in different positions, and that bodes well.
“He likes to get on the ball and make things happen and he is a very exciting footballer, so it’s good to have him in the squad.”
Liverpool FC are now set to switch their attentions back towards Champions League affairs and their crunch clash away at Napoli on Wednesday night.
The Reds are aiming to go one step further in Europe’s elite club competition this season after they reached the final last term but ended up losing to Real Madrid in the showpiece back in May.
